Volunteer Positions
Tax Help Montana provides no-cost tax preparation to individuals and families earning under $42,000 a year and remains the only free tax service serving Montana's Indian Country.
We have needs for greeters, screeners, cash handlers and tax preparers! Want to get involved?
Screeners are needed to determine the eligibility of clients for site services, take clients through a benefits screening web-tool, organize tax documents, and determine what level of return and preparer the client should be served by.
Cash Coordinators are responsible for providing financial education to Tax Help Montana clients. Most work will be done individually with clients while they wait to be seen by tax preparers. Cash Coordinators will help clients learn about the range of benefits provided at Tax Help Montana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance [VITA] sites, the asset building opportunities, and how much money they could save if they take advantage of them. Cash Coordinators will refer clients to pilot savings programs and other financial education and savings opportunities as needed.
Tax Preparersare responsible for preparing federal and state income tax returns of varying levels of difficulty--from basic to international--as well as providing counseling to clients regarding claiming tax credits and other services available through the Tax Help Montana campaign.
